The SDC Members

The principal aim of the Society is that Members grow in faith and holiness. The mode of the group is briefly to establish personal involvement with Jesus Christ and to extend to others this relationship.

The Members themselves live a dedicated life and follow the Gospel counsels of Poverty, Chastity and Obedience in accordance with the spirit of the Society.

Members join the Society in a 'Ceremony of Incorporation'. This is preceded by two years of internal formation and training. Emphasis is placed on Scripture Study, Spirituality of Saint George Preca and other areas of Theology and Church teachings. A particular emphasis is also given to teaching methods in faith development as most Members take on a teaching role in the Society's Centres and parishes.

The Society also has a rich tradition of prayer in common and in private.

Men and women who choose to live as Members of the Society of Christian Doctrine pursue their own working professions and careers while remaining available to carry out the work of the Society. The work of the Society is carried out during the weekends and evenings.

The development in faith with young people and adults complements the work of the home, school and parish.
